Section of Fishery or river stretch: Trent loop in Newark, back of Sugar Factory.
Date: 10/10/2002
Time fished: 8am. to 6.45pm.
Weather conditions: Dull, Strong Cool East Wind blowing straight upstream & in face.
Water conditions: Extremely low, very clear low flow.
Water Temperature: Sorry, stopped taking these in 1968, as I would rather rely on my senses than a thermometer to decide on tactics. It was walm to my pinkies though. Car said air was 14 degrees but i couldn't dip it in the water.
Bait: Medium Betaine pellet, coated in spicy Baker/trout pellet paste. Rolled in baby pellets.
Method: Lightweight method feeder rolled
under a bush. Mix heavy with small pellets.
Results: 8 chub, 4lb. 2oz. to 4lb. 14oz. 1 barbel 7lb. 5oz.
Brief description of the session and any remarks: River seems to be very quiet, with very few people about most anglers I talked to on Newark/ Tidal stretches on Wednesday having a very slow time, most had no bites.
Things have changed, tha knows, last time I fished you had a job getting a swim.

Results:35lbs of bream
Brief description of the session : Fish didnt really come on till after midday, first 2 hours were bitless save a tiny skimmer. Loads of big fish rolling everywhere chub, bream, maybe barbel but not sure, saw at least 50 cormorants, seems to be more than last year, at least on this stretch there does. Quite a few other anglers present, one barbel of about 3lbs caught by the persone below me along with 1 bream. Other than that everyone else seemed to be struggling although the balif reported someone else on the stretch had been into a few bream. Also a guy turned up and said someone had been in the tackle shop when he was in for luncheon mean and said they ahd caught 9 barbel and lost 14 from the 'scrapyard' in newark, not sure how nuch truth there was in the story though.

Had some crushed maggots and odd shake of tip but that was all. My mate had a good fish on that was lost close to the edge. (he also blanked). Second half of session was fished at the same peg where I done so well the previous Tuesday. The only thing that was different from last Tuesday's session is that the river was carrying about 3-4 ft extra water today.
