I will shortly be recieving my batch of Shimano Stella FD reels that I will be field testing. They are coming in 1000 to 4000 sizes complete with 3 spare spools each, so I will be able to try them out in a variety of angling methods.

I just thought I would askif any of you had tried out these reels. I am told they are Shimano's benchmark reel and at £370 to £490 RRP each, they should be good.

There are some good walking boots comeing onto the market soon. Will you be field testing them the next time you come to the Ribble?

Probably like most Shimanos: Over-priced,,over-heavy, over-hyped....overrated.

Give me a Mtchell 301 anytime

And I once went with a girl called Stella. She failed, on exactly the same counts as the reel.

I think Ron lives in the land where the first cuckoo is heard every day.

£370 for a reel, I wouldn't pay that much if it came with a Harrison rod and a season ticket on the Ouse syndicate water, s'pose I could sell it on Ebay though come to think of it.

Try them on those rods made from carrots you were supposed to be testing ....They should go well together ... in cloud cuckoo land

Ron,

Don't waste your time 'field testing' the Stella FD's, quite honestly they are not that good and were a poor balance on my Carbotecs.

They are sitting somewhere at the back of my garage, I think.
