Remeber if you intend to trap signals you need a permit from EA

You can trap them by the Tonne down here and even the fish shops and restaurants don't want them.

There are so many in the Lea, you can't give them away ?

You have my sympathies Bob. As I said they've driven me off my favourite ever river and now they're in my local river too. You either put up with them or go elsewhere while there still is an elsewhere to go to. There wont be for long.

Can they be liquidized and used for bait additives?

Unfortunately not.
National Fisheries byelaw 3 (2001):

"Any person who in fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels, uses as bait crayfish of any species whether alive or dead, or parts thereof, shall be guilty of an offence."

I'd imagine to prevent the spread of crayfish plague to our native crayfish populations.
