Not quite Ron, the Golden Barbel Club pre-dated the CCC by many years and indeed the odd single specie group did exist prior to 1950, I think the Red Spinners was one of these also? NASG of course brought many of the then single specie groups under one roof when our mate Eric organised the first meeting 24th April 1965 and many groups grew and was formed from this. many of the longer standing groups did have breaks in their history, the original Tenchfishers for instance of 1954 was reformed, so was the Perchfishers and the Barbel catchers. The National Anguilla Club however was formed in December 1962 by Arthur Sutton, I still have the original newsletters, and it progressed after Dr Terry Coulson became involved, Eric was unaware of the National Anguilla Club`s existance at NASGS inception, but the NAC later joined the organisation NASG. The first National Carp Group was formed by Alan Otter I believe under NASGs auspices, known as the National Carp Club, towards the end of the 60s the Winter Carp group formed which appears to have ran into the 1969 BCSG fromed by Eric and Peter Mohan. from Erics notes, Peter tried to join the NCC but his application was turned down, so he asked Eric could he help, the end result was Eric suggested Peter form his own group and together they set up the BCSG. Peter later went on to form the CAA Carp Anglers Club ca 1975. The Carp Society of 1981 was Tim Paisley baby, I`cant remember the co-founder now?, this was the first time the carpman had a truely carp angling group for all and of course the Carp Society took off big time. Eric also formed the Pike Society 1972, which ran into difficulties and was reformed/relaunched as a new body under the PAC banner ca 1977 under Barrie Rickards, Hugh Renolds and Bill Chillingworth. Another significant happening was the formation of Rons Northern Specimen Hunter group (1962), to give it its orginal name, Eric developed his idea of NASG from NSHG, and the rest is history as they say.
Derek wasnt Bob Ivey Kent based, I remember the Bream group, wasnt it short lived though, I still have the original NASG lists?

Wow! Thanks Ron. Great to talk the other day. I shall call you again on my return from Italy in late September. The chub and perch groups I still need the info on then. I think the Anguilla Club was 1965? Anyone differ?
yes NAC was December 1962, the Perchfishers, the original group formed in the 60s not sure of the date, our present group, to which I was political rep was formed around 83 if I remember rightly, the original group disbanded after the perch desease outbreak in the 70s. A perchfishing club did exist in the 50s, but I have little information about it, it think it was formed under the CCC original tenchfishers group phase? I dont know much about the Chub Study Group but suspect this isnt the original group, going from my NASG/NASA records?
Its funny still having Ron around, younger members would have no idea what a legend we have in our midst, he was certainly mine, not only did Ron form one of the first significant localised group which achived National fame, he also helped out with the concept of the first organisation to encompass all single specie specialists groups, NASG the Mother organisation, but he also brough the bolt rig into this country, so much history and hes still very much alive and kicking, I guess we`ll have to shoot me old mate in the end, haha
