My missus is asking what I want for my birthday and I’m thinking about the Hummingbird Smartcast RF35e (rod mounted).
I’ve been trawling t’interweb regarding modifications to extend the range etc (the newer models now have a range of about 150 feet) but I have 2 questions I’m hoping Cakey or some other techno whizz can answer…
1. Can you modify the rod mounted receiver in the same way as the rf15 units? If so, is it just a case of pulling out the aerial similar to the transmitter or should an extra length of aerial be soldered to the existing one? (& what should the aerial length be?)
2. When modifying the transmitter (the yellow float), the online manuals say that the battery is non-replaceable but can it be replaced with one from say Maplins? If so what is the battery type/spec?
Thanks in advance.
Kev.
