Hi all.

Just bought a John Wilson Ideal XL Carp rod and I'm a bit concerned at the the gap between the two sections. It's 27mm! Is this normal? It seems massive!

This is my first 'proper' rod and any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

27mm is not massive, this allows for any future wear on the male part of the spigot.
If the sections touched, then there would be no room for any wear and the top section would fly off.....

It's best to measure how much of the spigot is buried in the top section. (We used to bea able to say how far the male enters the female, but PC and all that.)

Shove it in and mark the male with a pencil. Take the top section off and measure from the pencil mark to the end of the spigot. Does it look a reasonable amount?
