Ron - these wild rainbows on the Derbyshire Wye - do you know where they spawn?

In the upper reaches of the river on gravel redds. Normally about now.

I ask because the only other places where I know they spawn successfully are immediately downstream of large reservoirs, and wondered if it was the stable temperatures that contributed to the success. Any such places on the upper Wye?

APril 15th is when I shall be on the Wylye - the gear is polished and greased where needed, the flies in neat order in their boxes I can't wait. The excitement is mounting; like you Ron I think April and May are the best time to be on the river and if the Trout are rising...yahoooo!
