Jamie, all members, including you, or your dad, should be receiving a newsletter shortly, spelling out exactly what has happened at Crabmill Flash.
Briefly, about 45 carp were lost through SCMS disease, which we believe is about 20% of the total stock of carp.
The lake has been closed to fishing until March 2005 when the situation will be looked at again.
NONE of the other species, bream to over 13lb, tench into double figures and catfish to over 40lb have been affected.
The silver lining in this particular cloud is that these fish will now grow even bigger.
The lake will be restocked with carp when we are certain that the attack from SCMS is well and truly over.
Crabmill has always been a special fishery and there is no reason whatsoever to believe it won't always be a special fishery. What has happened is a hiccup in a long and glorious history of producing exceptional fish.
