Good grief Mike, good luck in policing that lot :( Bandit Country doesn't come close even with free membership and fishing of SFA. Did the CRT beg you on their hands and knees and pay you big wads of cash to take it on?

I think they wanted it 'cleaned-up' and removed from their books as a 'toxic debt'!:D
There's some cracking fish (Roach>2lb) in there and we've just had a goodwill stocking from C&RT to get a bit of publicity and start us off - unfortunately - no wads of cash - I think they want us to get out and fish rather than spend all the time in t' pub!
As for bailiffing the stretch - why d'ya think I'm trying to drum-up local local membership?:eek::D:eek:mg:

Welcome, and well done on resurrecting an 8 year old thread.

Reading back through the old posts it's interesting to note how many of the posters are no longer here for one reason or another.

Reading through this again was like a trip down memory lane . . . . . .

A good number of those on this thread were actually at a match at Woodlands View fishery last Satruday, believe it or not . . . . . .

It is an annual match of the Aces (the older statesmen of angling) versus the Chavs (being the younger generation) that has been running even longer than this thread.

The Aces won, again, giving a running total of Aces 11 wins to the chavs 2 wins.

They will all meet up again in a few months for the (now) annual John Leger Memorial match at the same location.

I'm led to believe one of their number actually overslept and missed the match :eek:mg:;)

Hi Alan,
Check on the website and Facebook page - it's updated fairly regularly.
First thing though is to join-up via this link: http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

This isn't a normal club where you pay subs, sit back and everyone does everything for you! - it's friendly, sociable and relies on the members to do things - like bailiffing, work parties, pollution monitoring, rubbish collection, etc. We have occassional matches on various club waters - it depends on someone volunteering their services to act as local match organisers. You might even get some time free to go fishing! :D

Hope to see you on the bank or at club meetings - usually in a decent boozer! :guinness::w:beer:
Tight Lines!

Hope you don't mean me Ian........................

. . . . erm, nope, I think I am the guilty paty on this score.

As it is fished in the Close season I only ever make the trip to chat and socialise and not to fish the match.

Last week was a killer at work and I was dead tired, and my flight home of Friday night was late too grrrr!!!!

But I still awoke at 4am on Saturday but thought I could still have another hour in bed, but that hour turned into 5 hours as I didn't so much sleep as pass out LOL

For the John Leger memorial match I will take the day off and travel up the day before and sleep over close to the venue.

Perhaps FM should accept part of the blame in exploiting your "Zero Hour" Moderation duties. I propose the owners buy you a decent alarm clock with snooze facility and recompense the cost of your breakfast, the phantom sausage snatcher may wish to make a personal contribution to the latter :D:D
