hi has any one tried a hardy maksman supero 13ft float rod which i have been told is a silver fish rod.if so what do you think about rod and do you know were i can get a good price on one .good fishing to all clive
Hi Clive,
There's some confusion at the moment whether or not the Supero's are the new Marksman's as they are slightly cheaper which could be market price positioning but then again they do have a different model code so not quite sure and it's not clear from the Hardy site.
If it's any help I have the Marksman 13' Specialist which will be as near as damn it the same thing and apologies to anyone who's read this in another thread but they are superb as a silver fish rod, both in the way they transmit the feeling of small fish and the way they handle ultra light hook links and Hardy aren't bull$hitting in what they claim the rod will do deep down with bigger fish.
Take a look here, post no. 14... http://www.fishingmagic.com/forums/coarse-fishing/325968-marksman-rods-2.html
I think you're best bet is Ebay for a cheap one and not sure where you are but if you're around these parts give me a shout, you're more than welcome to take mine out for a test drive.
It appears that the Supero is not a replacement for the the Specialist, they are different rods in their own right.Hi Keith,
Do you happen to know if the Supero has replaced the Specialist in the Hardy range or is it a completely different level that will run alongside it?
It appears that the Supero is not a replacement for the the Specialist, they are different rods in their own right.
They are both listed on the Hardy web site as completely different beasts which run alongside each other.
If the Supero was replacing the Specialist then the Specialist would be listed as a 'Discontinued' model in the product tree.

I wouldn't bother with Prestons they're just tat lol.
Is anyone else awaiting the entrance from a certain person from stage left?
It's certainly a rather juicy bait, I suspect that the rig it's attached to is a bit too unsubtle though.
I was given a hardys 14ft specialist float rod as a present for crimbo and christened it with some chub on my local river just recently. It was good I must addmitt, i've no idea how it would compare with the supero's. If I couldn't get hold of a normark float rod I think it would have to be a Marksman specialist float rod for trotting...but then again the daiwa tournaments are nice .
I wouldn't bother with Prestons they're just tat lol.
With you on the Normark, I prefer my Titan 2000 and Microlite to most that I've handled in the last 14 years or so.

I did set the trap chaps but the prey mustn't be lurking or i'm sure he'd deffo of been snared...just keep quiet and watch...we'll have him :w
I'm getting quite worried now, i've visions of somebody stuck in their car in a drift somewhere between Chesterfield and Cheshire (?) in a gallant but frugal attempt to get his oats.
Hope he's got some sarnies...
Lol lets hope his Prestons rods are wrapped up to keep them warm
I've heard he's ditched 'em after taking up a lucrative sponsorship deal from Dragon Carp and has disappeared whilst he works out how he's gonna tell us.
We're all in for it when he catches up with this!
Wasn't me :wh
From what I've heard Dragon Carp rods aren't that much superior to Preston to warrant the change
