Hook Sizes

Buy barbed hooks and sqeeze the barb down, leaving a slight bump. This gives the best features of both barbed and barbless hooks. The hooks come out as easilly as barbless without cutting as deeply. I go along with what Stuart says about matching hooks to the line. Personally I think 12lb line may be a bit on the heavy side for the fishing you are doing.

Allright Davey Boy? I agree with crushing the barb, it does give the edge and sits nicely between the two arguments of barbed versus barbless!

Albert,
I see Ron hasn't answered you. I suspect the answer would be no, just don't use barbless hooks, as would be the answer from me.

I dont like Barbless hooks for larger species of fish, and have been saying so for some time now. I am usually attacked for airing my oppinions on the subject, so it is great to see so many experienced and respected anglers have come to the same conclusion as myself.
