ALAN,,fair comment but its tossers like him who give people like myself a bad name,,i work in a small sorting office and i"m part of deliveries as well. The lads i work with are a great hard working bunch who clear 99% of all mail that enters our office every single day,,without getting political,,,in short its the tossers up top making these stupid decisions thats f*****g royal mail up but despite this myself and i"m sure the lads at work are all proud to work for royal mail,,,the company is going through a rough time at the minute and justly so but i"m sure this in time will change,,so yes,,,i am proud to be a postie and i love my job ,,,and if you think you are getting bad service,,,,go and live abroard,,,and you"ll notice the difference,,,,,we may be going through a rough time ,,,but we"re still the best postal service in the world!!.,,AND ANOTHER THING,,,IF YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER CARRIER WHO CAN DELIVER YOUR LETTER ANYWHERE IN GB FOR 27PENCE,,,,LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alan,,its just the same at our office,,if royal mail listened more to us posties in regards to the struture of deliveries etc the company wouldn"t be in this mess now,,instead they bring "outsiders" in who just havn"t got a clue how to run a sorting office!!!,,and now they"re paying the price and justly so,,,,i hope you get your problems sorted Alan,,just keep at em,,,by the way,,,,,,,GOOD FISHING MATE!!!!

GREAT NEWS!!!

The parcel arrived this morning, Good old Bennett's - 3 days to the hour (or so) which isn't bad. I don't know at what precise time it did arrive because our nice posty left it on the bloody step so that when 'er indoors came home she found it.

Thanks a bloody lot Posty for making my weekend HELL!

As for the Browning reel, well it's a little bigger than I'd hoped for so perhaps the 830 would have suited me. Smooth - wow and at these prices it's no wonder the larger (mmmm!) manufacturers are bringing their prices down. It seems a quality item, but now to load it with line and I'll do a user report on it later.

I'd say that's a result then Jeff.

But you need to use your works addres for delivery of items you shouldn't really be buying, or do you work from home?

Yes Adrian. I work from home. It isn't that bad because when she says I'm buying too much gear I just remind her that it don't cost me ?85 a month to have me Barnet done.

Just wound the line on and there was first of all a bias towards the back of the reel. Inside the spool there are two cogged washers and by removing one it corrects it. So now line lay is very good.

Good ol royal mail,,ahem!!!!,,but seriously thats good news jeff i must admit..shock horror ,,that i"ve never used or bought any Browning products in the past,,dunno why i think probably its because that when i find a product and like it i tend to stick with it,,i suppose its made me narrow minded as far as my fishing gear goes,,anyhow the reel works out regards.

Jeff, is the size between a shimano 4000gt and a 5000gte? my 4000gt was crying for help the other day. Fished a big welsh res for bream, had over 250lb to 4lb.
Maybee i should have used my 5000, but it feels to big for my feeder rod.
Waiting in anticipation for your report.

For Mail Order I can?t fault Fosters, Birmingham. Only ever had one problem, and that was not of their making, when I ordered a Fox Barbel rod. At that time Fox were advertising what they could not supply.
Can?t really say that I have ever had a problem with Parcel Force. Over the last 20 years or so I've probably had 3-4 parcel deliveries a week and the only companies I ever had problems with were the "others" i.e. Securicor etc, and the amount of damage caused by Business Post was unbelievable. Even the men in brown suits fared little better.

Jeff, if that had been Securicor and you were not at home, in most instances you would have had to go and collect the parcel, (and where I live it?s about a 30 mile round trip) if they can re deliver its usually not within 3-4 days.
Tip, I used to get my fishing tackle delivered to another address. You have to beet them at their own game. (Women that is)

Goff, I think it's even bigger, in the body part at least, than the 5000. It is getting on for the 6000 size. That being the case I would look at the smaller model 830 if I were you, but not having seen it I couldn't say for sure.

I wish I'd have stuck to that model as my choice now, but I'm using mine with the Chimera and a Daiwa 1.5lb Specialist rod, so it's not going to look entirely out of place. It does look nice though.

Know what you mean about Securicor Omega John. It used to be a right lovely looking woman who delivered stuff and I wouldn't have wanted to miss her visit! It's a bloke now, big fellow, beard (sorry), and I really don't fancy him the same.

The last time I had something delvered to my home adddress, the bugger left it on the door step. That was NOT royal mail.... they would take it back and leave a note for me to collect it later. That's how it should be!

Stay clear of deliveries by Citylink Express if you can. Have had two deliveries through them, one a rod within and cardboard tube and this was broken in three places! Thankfully the contents inside were ok but the t**t delivering it to me was quite bemused when I wanted to inspect the goods before signing. The other was similarly bashed about so much I rang the vendor and advised about the state of the courier service, guess what? He didn't give a s**t, seemed that once it went out of the door and he had his dosh he didn't care. I suppose any breakages are dealt with by insurance and not him..?
Parcel Force have always been good in my book, even when I haven't been in and had to go to the nearest depot.

Unless you take out separate insurance, all the sender is entitled to is ?15 per kilo compensation from the carrier. Some do a contract on so many parcels up to certain weights and values, but I would have thought at most of the carraige charges levied by tackle retailers they don't have that. If it's broken or the packaging damaged in any way examine it whilst the driver is there and if it's terminal, refuse delivery.

Then it's someone elses responsibility.

I well remember a time when I worked in pit village just outside Barnsley, and the butcher of a customer that I had called on had left a bacon joint on the doorstep. The woman next door took it, made stock from it, and put it back on the doorstep. A caring and sharing neighbour.

Beware when anyhting is delivered via citylink. They have a favourite trick of getting you to sign for the goods, then getting the stuff out the van.You can tell it is going to be damaged when they try to pull this one on you.
