Section of Fishery or river stretch: Above Byley
Date: 13/08/04
Time fished: 0700 to 1200
Weather conditions: Misty then rain
Water conditions: 12-18 inches up, fining down nicely
Air temperature: 18
Water Temperature: Not taken
Bait: Boilie/ Pellet
Method: Lead
Results: 7.15 a.m. 7.12 Barbel. 8.10 a.m 4.5 Barbel
Brief description of the session & remarks: Lots of bites early doors but went dead later. Suggests this small river is limited as to how many Barbel can be caught from one peg. I'll consider being more mobile in future.

Time fished: 11.00 to 18.00
Weather conditions: sunny, odd shower
Water conditions: About 2 1/2 feet up, dropped a foot while I was there
Air temperature: 22 c
Water Temperature: Not taken
Bait: Paste wrapped boilie
Method: Lead

Brief description of the session & remarks: Crazy 40 minutes with 4 Barbel. The bait wasn't in the water for more than a minute without getting taken during this period. One of them took seconds after casting with a 2oz lead, I didn't even get the rod in the rest. Unhittable Chub knocks later on as the water cleared but the Chub were absent earlier, when it was like chocolate.

Brief description of the session & remarks: Nice conditions again, what a brilliant summer this is for Barbel. It's great to be able to catch throughout the day rather than having to fish nights. Saw a Mink today bold as brass, swam right past me. It went very quiet after that, not suprising!

Water Temperature: about 7
Bait: maggot
Method: stick
Results: 27 chub up to 3.8, 3 roach, 3 dace, 1 barbel (3.8), 1 graything, 1 gudgeon
Brief description of the session & remarks: Typical roving Dane session, nice day, never saw another soul all day, plenty of chublets 6-12ounce about half a dozen proper fish over 2lbs. Lost three decent barbel, they take some getting out on 16 to 2.6, but only one broke me, others shed hook. Only fished about 4 swims today. Surprising how low river was compared with Ribble (where was going) which was about 8ft up!

Weather conditions: Bright, clouding over later on, not too cold
Water conditions: Normal leve, some colour
Air temperature:NA
Water Temperature:NA
Bait:Double white maggot
Method: Stick
Results: 3 Barbel (best 11lb 6oz) 3 chub, lost another two decent Barbel
Brief description of the session & remarks: Didnt get loads of bites, fished one swim for a couple of hours and only had the two lost barbel on, the both got off on a sunken snag right infront of me.

Moved swims and had three barbel in about 20 minutes and didnt even put any feed in. Caught the chub a little later.

I felt that this day would definately suit the stick more that the lead or feeder.

Bait:Maggot

Results:1 Chub, about 2.5lb
Brief description of the session & remarks: Different swim to yesterday, and later on a guy came past and said his mate had been in it earlier on (he must have been feeding cyanide)
Had nothing whatsoever on the stick, changed to the little feeder and lost one barbel in an underwater snag (again) then had the chub later on. Only had the two proper bites on the tip and a couple of nudges.
There were fish getting caughton the stretch, just not by me.
