Used 5kg of ground bait + 2 tins of sweetcorn. Kept bream in swim all night, 12 balls to begin with then 6 balls every hour, nothing on the method even when I switched from pellet to hair rigged sweet-corn. Best nights fishing this year.

Very very cold, few line bites up to dusk then as temp dropped all went dead. About 0.5M ice skirt at river edge which increased to 2M by 20:30hrs.

Had to break ice at waters edge and only one peg open but I was the only angler so no problem. Two fish fell to sweet corn and one to bread all after dark.

Used 3kg of ground bait + 1.5 tins of sweetcorn. The fish came to a drop back bite which is unusual as these Hybrids generally take your rod off the rod rest.

Used 5kg of ground bait + 2 tins of sweetcorn. Been waiting for 9 days for the river to come just right. Very difficut casting due to the wind. No line bites prior to catching got the feeling the bream are on the move. They move out of the area by the start of the new season.

Results ......... 4 Trout between 1/2lb & 3/4lb plus one dace.

Used 3kg of ground bait + 1-1/2pt pt maggots. Plenty of knocks dying off by mid day. Great to be back on the river, looking forward to doing some exploring this summer.

Results ......... 2 small Rainbow Trout and 2 eels.

Bit dissapointing thought it might have been the rowing boats which were out in force, but I think it was just one of those days! .

Used 4kg of ground bait + 1 tin of sweetcorn. Plenty of fish about but not feeding as vigorously as the last session. May be the drop of 3C in the water temp., due to a flood pulse coming through over the last couple of days, was the reason? Still a very pleasent nights fishing.

Used 4kg of ground bait + 1 tin of sweetcorn. River packed out with salmon and salmon anglers, managed to bait up in daylight but I'd to wait untill dark before I could start fishing. Nice to get away form work and catch a couple of decent fish, would have stayed longer if it hadn't been for work commitments.

Usual 4kg of ground bait + 1 tin of sweetcorn. River packed out with salmon and salmon anglers so the hot swims not available but I'd already decided to fish another swim, first for dace then go for the bream at dusk. This swim in the past has produced 100lb + bags but today it was absolutely dead. Only excitement was watching a water rat take two hours to work up the courage to run past me, was tempted to feed it for keeping me entertained, but I didn’t.
