A barbel topping 19lb has been netted from the Great Ouse. One name mentioned is Tony Gibson and the story is that the fish didn’t come from the famous Adams Mill stretch.

It is likely that the story has been sold as an exclusive to one of the angling weeklies which will account for why details are, as yet, sketchy.

More details as we get them.

UPDATE
More details are emerging, the fish weighed 19lb 1oz and came from the Newport Pagnell stretch below Adams Mill. Apparently it is a well known barbel that has been caught by several of the Great Ouse regulars at various weights.

It was last caught a few months ago at 17lb 7oz and is the same fish with which Ray Walton broke the record.

ANOTHER UPDATE
Apparently it is the same fish that Martin Bowler caught at 16lb 12oz a year or so ago.

The captor also caught another big double during the same session.
