Hines takes 5th round with an incredible catchWigan based, 17 year old Rick Hines, Saints, posted a record match winning weight in the 5th round of the Hankat Winter league, along the Staffs/Worcs Canal through Bilston and Wolverhampton at the weekend. The England Junior international Rick, took 14 bream and a carp, with some small stuff, to weigh in an incredible, 43-13-12. Rick was on peg 16 on the right hand side of the inflow at Oxley moor and caught 14 bream and a carp with a few roach and perch on caster and bunches of bloodworm.
Steve was on peg 15 on the other side of the inflow and caught bream and roach on caster. Lee was on peg 86 and caught all roach on joker. In total there were 19 weights over 10lb. |

100lbs Plus Catches Two Weeks Running For Penkridge AnglerAnthony Rogers, Preston Innovations, topped the UK angling match weights last weekend, with an incredible 181-13-0 match winning catch in the Izaak Walton Fishery Saturday Open. The weight is the largest ever recorded at the fishery in February. Anthony, a Preston Innovations tackle company employee, pole fished (a back breaking 18 metres!) across to the island margins from Bottom Pool’s peg 24. Carp to 10lb fell to a single grain of corn over pellet feed. Penkridge based Anthony won the previous Saturday winter league round at the same venue, with another incredible winter weight of 112-3-0!
