Anyone fishing for information on angling venues should be well hooked when staff from the Environment Agency bring their stand to Tacklefest 2002 at the East of England Showground in Peterborough on 16 and 17 February 2002.

At the two-day event the Agency will be launching its new comprehensive regional guide to fishing, the Angle Directory, that comes in three separate volumes. Each volume, with one for Northern, Central and Eastern Areas of the region, focuses on where to fish in its respective area, giving a full range of fishery locations that should suit anglers of all types, from beginner to expert, pure pleasure angler to specimen hunter or match regular.

The Environment Agency stand will be at the indoor heated venue from 9.30am until 4pm on Saturday 16 February and Sunday 17 February 2002, and staff will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice. Further Agency publications on fishing in the region will also be available at the event, where the UK’s best angling retailers will sell top brands for coarse, match, carp, sea and pike fishing at massive discount prices.

Dr Nigel Tomlinson, Environment Agency Regional Fisheries Development Officer, is looking forward to attending Tacklefest 2002 and to the launch of the Agency’s fishing guide. Dr Tomlinson said: “Whilst our previous guides have been successful and well-received, the Angle Directory is the most detailed version ever, updated and printed in an entirely new format. More information and increased angling opportunities have prompted us to issue the Directory in three volumes, which should benefit anglers in all areas of the Anglian region.

“Such a massive collation of angling detail could not have been completed without the help of fishery owners and clubs. We are very grateful to all who submitted information for the Directory, and hope this will encourage even more people to sample the joys of fishing in Anglian region.”

The Agency’s stand will also feature displays and exhibitions detailing the right and wrong ways to participate in and enjoy the nation’s favourite sporting pastime. Admission for Tacklefest 2002 is £ 4 for adults and £ 2 for OAP’s and under 16’s. For further information about the event please call 01733 468163.
