Eleven million disabled people will get a better point of contactand an improved chance of finding information on how to go fishing,where to go and what to use, as the former charity Angling Linkbecomes the British Disabled Angling Association.

Formed six years ago by Walsall wheelchair angler Terry Moseley,Angling Link has become the organisation dedicated to promotingangling amongst disabled people, increasing facilities for disabledpeople at fishing venues, and promoting awareness and support fromthe non-disabled community for their disabled colleagues.

But now it is to go Nationwide under the new name of the BritishDisabled Angling Association as membership soars over the 1,500 markand daily, enquiries are turned into firm subscriptions.

The charity Angling Link was originally set up to help others inthe coarse angling sector and it rapidly gained interest fromdisability organisations across the world and became an officialregistered charity in 1998.

The organisation has now become the top disability anglingorganisation in Europe and caters for all tastes, Coarse, Sea, Carp,Game, Cat Fishing and so much more. The first point of contact foranyone interested in the field of disability angling it now boasts agrowing membership of almost 1,500 disabled anglers.

The name Angling link was appropriate at the time, linkingeveryone and anyone to disabled angling. As the increase in interestand the rapid growth so the need for a professional and recognisablename across the World, and so the official title granted by theCharity commission is now “The British Disabled AnglingAssociation”.

The name is self explanatory and will be recognised across theglobe, Angling link will still remain the working name, as thousandsof disabled people have come to recognise the original name from allparts of the globe, 10,000 hits on the web site in just 6 monthsproves that this is a worthy and respected organisation.

The new organisation and name has been welcomed by Terry Moseley,who said, “I am proud to be the founder of Angling link and lookforward to The British Disabled Angling Association making its markon the world of angling, we now have the same stature as all theother top disability sports such as Basketball & Marathon racingall of which have the title British.”

“I am sure that with the name depicting disability, angling &British it will make life easier for those desperate to search out ahelping hand in our sport of angling. The future of disabilityangling is in our hands, the B.D.A.A will ensure that it makes thechanges that are so desperately needed in this field of angling.”

Terry Moseley will now join a twelve strong Board of Trustees forthe BDAA which also includes Rick Keeley of Tarmac, AnglingJournalist Peter Thompson, Gloucester Accountant Judith Collins andWest Midlands Angling Administrator Malcolm Kelly.
