More powerful than Technium Specialist, Antares has a stepped up test curve rating of around one pound six ounces. The action of the rod is different too, being more ‘progressive’ (the Technium has a ‘horseshoe’ style action) with a steady build-up of power toward the butt. The rod is supplied with two top sections: a straight ‘avon top’ and a second section designed to accept Shimano push-in quivertips.

The strength of the Antares blank allows you to put more ‘heat’ on a fish when it needs to be dragged away from cover without severely compromising its ‘hit and hold’ capabilities. Antares is a superb river rod and stillwater specimen rod when six to eight pound reel lines or equivalent braids are used. Because it has a faster action than Technium it also makes a superb heavy feeder rod. Antares is fitted with overfit joints that produce a flawless power curve and a half-cork, half-duplon handle, winch style Fuji reel seat and a combination of triple and double leg Shimano Silicium guides match the contours of the rod perfectly and the white custom style lettering gives the rod a final touch of class.

Supplied with 4 quiver tips, 1 oz, 2oz, 2 1/2 oz fibreglass and a 3oz carbon.
