    Overview

The Himalaya Range of clothing has been brought about from the lack of purpose made clothing that’s suitable for all year-round use. Even in the summer there are evenings that blow cold and the Himalaya jacket would not be out of place on such a night. The weight of both pieces is crucial, this is not the sort of clothing that weighs you down to such a point that it’s a chore to wear. The jacket in a Large weighs in at around an incredible 1lb 6oz with the bib & brace just 4-5oz more. You really do not feel that you have them on.

The outer Softshell material is not only lightweight but also incredibly wind resistant. We have sourced the outer rip-stop Softshell and the micro-fibre hollowfill filling from the mountaineering world, where weight and warmth are critical. The high loft filling retracts and retains body heat keeping you warm but not sweaty. We have purposely made the fit of the garments loose so as during the coldest of conditions a fleece can be worn underneath but also when it’s warmer the loose fit will stop you from over-heating.

    Verdict

Clothing that will keep you warm and dry in the most severe weather usually comes at a price, not so much the cost in monetary terms (as all top quality clothing is not cheap) but in weight. It’s usually heavy and restricts your movements.

Not so this Aqua Himalaya clothing, which is the lightest jacket and trousers I’ve ever worn yet still been warm and dry. It’s not miracle wear though; as with all outer winter wear, you do need thermal underclothes and a fleece when the weather is at its worst. The Himalaya fleece is ideal for this, with its windproof lining and generous hood.

So easy to get on and off

The bib and brace is the best I’ve ever worn. Apart from it being warm and waterproof, it is so easy to get in and out of. I’ve been put off bib and brace overtrousers in the past and abandoned wearing them solely because they were so hard to get into and out of. With these Aqua Himalayas you just unclip the shoulder straps (or slip them off your shoulders), unzip the side zips and the leg zips and they almost fall off you and all you have to do is step out of them. They’re just as easy to climb into as well.

The Himalaya range is an excellent outfit for all year round wear. What’s more the sizes are generous, the Large is a proper Large and not a jumped up Medium. It’s a pity the rip-stop type material is the ‘noisy’ type, or it would have scored a full 10/10; but that’s just me, most of you won’t even notice, or care, about the noise. However you look at it, the ‘noise’ is a small price to pay though for such light and comfortable gear that still keeps you warm and dry.
