Specimen hunting scientist Dr Matt Naylor is enjoying an excellent season on a variety of different venues and his most recent outing was on the Old River Lee at Fishers Green.

Matt Naylor and his 6lb 1oz chub from the Old River Lee
With the water still high but clearing conditions were spot on for chub. Matt baited a swim with chopped worms before returning twenty minutes later to present a large lobworm. The result was a superb chub of 6lb 1oz.

With the River Lee continuing to drop and the water continuing to clear and cool even further the conditions for chub are likely to be superb over the coming week or so. With the species at its top weight for the season at the moment the Green could well produce some exceptional chub over the next three weeks.
