Borwickfishing.co.uk is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the highest standard, the Gold Award, by the Fisheries Accreditation Scheme – only the second fishery in the whole of the UK to acheive this.

The new Fisheries Accreditation Scheme provides a set of fisheries management standards that set benchmarks for good environmental practice. Aimed at improving the welfare of fish and the habitat of the fishery, an FAS assessor checks water quality, stocking rates, bio-security, underwater and marginal vegetation, and fishery rules and policy; before granting a certificate. Qualifying fisheries are than assessed as being of Bronze, Silver or Gold standard.

There are nine separate pleasure, match and specimen waters at borwickfishing.co.uk, varying from the tiny 7 peg Gatenby, through 60 peg carp-bagging Griffish, to the 15 acre Jimmy’s Lake which has recently been stocked with Carp of 38lb, 35lb and 32lb. Each of the nine waters at borwickfishing.co.uk has been tested, inspected and assessed individually and all have been awarded Gold Standard.

Fishery Manager, Steve Griffiths, said; “Throughout the development of borwickfishing.co.uk to the popular fishery it is today, we have aimed for waters that provide excellent fishing for a wide variety of species without compromising the welfare of the fish or the natural environment. I am delighted that our efforts have been recognized in the achievement of the Fisheries Accreditation Scheme Gold Award.”
