British Waterways, the largest single owner of coarse fisheries inthe country, has announced that it has added Warwickshire’s BlytheWaters to its portfolio of ‘super waters’ across the Midlands andSouthWest and elsewhere in the country.

The 20 acre site, which has four separate pools, joins other BWmanaged fisheries, such as Earlswood and Stockton Reservoirs, inproviding guaranteed sport in well-maintained facilities. With over150 pegs, including many suitable for disabled anglers, along with acafe and ample car-parking spaces, British Waterways is confidentthat Blythe Waters will become increasingly popular with experiencedanglers as well as those who are just beginning to learn about thesport.

Keith Fisher, Regional Fisheries Manager for British Waterways, isdelighted with the the new venue. He said: “We have pledged tosupport angling and continually offer new facilities to the country’sanglers – and Blythe Waters does just that. Although it’s alreadypopular with anglers who live close by, I would hope that ourreputation for providing affordable and enjoyable sport will quicklybring anglers to this venue from further afield. We will also look todevelop Blythe Waters as a nationally recognised match venue, furtherincreasing our reputation for quality angling.”

Fish stocks will remain mixed across the venue, although Home Poolwill continue to be developed as a specimen carp fishery with carpover 25lbs. British Waterways has also announced that day permitprices will remain the same as before, at £ 5 for adults, £ 3for concessionaries and £ 3 for evenings, while the use offloating baits and limited qantities of pellets will now bepermitted.

In line with its pledge to increase opportunities for young peopleto enjoy angling and hopefully take up the sport, British Waterways,in conjunction with the professional Anglers association (PAA), isoffering free training courses for youngsters at Blythe Waters. From30 July, and for the following three Mondays until 20 August, younganglers will have the chance to find out how to bag fish time andtime again. Bait and tackle will be provided, along with a free lunch- and the course runs from 9am to 3pm. Pre-booking is essential bycalling Steve Lile of the PAA on 07956 261319.
