On November 1st, the travel company Caribbean and Sun opened the winter holiday season to the Caribbean islands with the addition of Dominica, Martinique and Guadeloupe, to include the less crowded and more developed Caribbean beauties.

Both a part of the EU from the outset, with features such as the Euro and open borders to EU citizens, Martinique and Guadeloupe are for those preferring to have a tropical holiday with panache. Situated between them, Dominica provides a paradise of dense jungles, steep shores, narrow gorges and dramatic waterfalls for the nature and wild-life enthusiast.

The company, which specialises in accommodation, combines holidays with palm trees, white beaches, turquoise seas, game fishing, yacht cruises, hiking, biking and exploring, now also with European standards.

Victoria Dixon, Country Manager of Caribbean and Sun in the UK said, “What is on offer is a new highlight of our personalised vacation concept, which delivers pleasure, relaxation and fun, with the comforts of home”.

ON THE COURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL
With its two-week ‘Island Hopping by Plane and Boat’ package, the West-London travel company offers a holiday experience on the filming locations of the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

Bringing the recent Gore Verbinski movie to life, this winter season the travel company Caribbean and Sun creates a holiday itinerary to take the Caribbean aficionado on an exploration of Grenada and the Grenadines, along the course charted by the Black Pearl.

With a programme that includes a one day sailing trip to Tobago Cays – the uninhabited island where Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Elizabeth Swann (Kiera Knightley) were left to their fate – the break also features a voyage on the “Scaramouche” the two-master Portuguese merchant ship seen in the movie.

“I am sure we looked at a minimum of 20 islands” says director Gore Verbinski about their chosen location. The film crew’s months long search for the right spot paid off when they found what they were looking for in the north of Grenada. Although about 2,000 km away, the scattered Grenadine islets’ white palm beaches offered the best alternative to Jamaica and Port Royal, where the story is originally set.

“You can be guaranteed that the crew will not transform into creepy zombie pirates at night during your yacht cruise crisscrossing the Grenadines” joked Victoria Dixon, the UK Country Manager of Caribbean and Sun and added, “And after all, who would really mind being left alone with a handsome Captain Sparrow there?”
