Josh Mitchison with his 30lb 2oz Old Lake common

Following a couple of quiet weeks for the Bury Hill carpers the last few days have seen a flurry of activity with carp going on a feeding frenzy on both Temple and the Old Lake with both lakes throwing up thirties and good numbers of twenties.

Anglers on the Old Lake were in for an extra surprise with most anglers reporting multi bags of up to a dozen fish to keep them busy and 13-year-old Josh Mitchison did particularly well from Peg 2 where he made a seven fish catch with which included a stunning common of 30lb 2oz.

Josh’s other fish ranged between 8 to 19lb with many of them coming from the margins. Frozen pulse boilies and PVA bags of freebies did the business for young Josh.

Catches on Temple included Robin Hood at a weight of 35lb 12oz to Dave Winters who fished a Mainline Cell boilie to the island margings opposite pegs 4 and 5.
