CARP ‘R’ US FLO GLO CRITTERS (POP-UPS AND SINKERS)
Price: £ 3.99 TO £ 4.99

Bright, fluorescent boilies have been with us for some time now, courtesy of Frank Warwick, who is popularly credited with using them in the first place, long before they became commercially available.

They were conceived to visually attract carp to a single hookbait in areas too far away to bait effectively with freebies. Stringers and PVA bags just cut down too much on the distance required.

So it was decided that what was needed was an extremely bright single hookbait, bright enough to be noticed by carp even in murky water. And so fluorescent boilies were born. These days, of course, they are used at close range, fished over top of freebies, just like any other type of boilie, as well as single baits.

The fluoro pop-up has also evolved to include fluoro sinkers.

These Flo Glo Critters from Carp ‘R’ Us have high flavour levels, including Betaine and are genuinely fluorescent, unlike some boilies which are simply bright (ish). They are available as pop-ups or sinkers and come in a variety of flavours.

The flavours available are: Pineapple Crush, Frutex (Turkish Delight), Squid/Octopus and Strawberry Jam EA.

www.endtackle.com exclusively offer orange, pink, white and yellow unflavoured Flo Glo Critters. Handy that, for it means you can flavour them with your particular favourite, or the going flavour for the water you’re fishing. Can also be used unflavoured for those crafty carp that go for washed-out baits; those that have leached all their flavour and look like they’ve been soaking in the water for several days, ie, not hookbaits.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

I must admit that I thought fluoro boilies were little more than a gimmick when I first heard about them, designed to catch anglers rather than fish. But my pal and I used Flo Glo Critters all this past season and I have to say they caught carp when anglers who fished the waters far more often than us were blanking.

I was successful with them mainly when I cast a single pop-up to the far bank, tucked right in to the base of the reedbed. Although we did catch a few in mid-water, one particular fish snaffling a bright pink Flo Glo Critter from mid-depth in 5ft of water.

I’ll certainly be using them again.
