Here at rECOrd our task is to pull together all the information about sightings and captures of the wild animals and plants in the Cheshire region (Cheshire, Halton, Warrington, Wirral and the old vice-county ‘pan-handle’ around Trafford, Tameside and Stockport).

Crucian carp

Roach
We currently, have quite a bit of information on mammals, insects and plants (approx. 1/3rd of a million records) but very, very few records of fish. Consequently, we would like to ask Cheshire based anglers if they could/would please send us information on their catches from waterbodies across the county of Cheshire. By doing so we can begin to understand the distribution of fish across the county and ensure that waterbodies involved in development schemes have up to date information available to underpin correct decision making processes.

As can be seen from the maps below – records of fish are rather sparse at the moment. If you have seen or caught any fish in the Cheshire region then please help increase our knowledge of all fish in our area by sending us the following information:

Name of the fish, date the fish was caught/seen, place the fish was caught/seen (an OS Grid Ref. would be great but we can help with this), your contact details, the number seen/caught.

Many thanks
