Recent Catch Reports:

Celtic Lakes continues to produce some truly excellent catches. Some of the recent reports received here at Celtic Lakes Resort include:

1.Steven Brown – 18th August 2007
“”This is my second visit to Celtic Lakes and it just gets better every time. The weather was rubbish (it rained all day) but it didn’t spoil the fishing. I will be coming back soon for sure.””

9 Carp weighing from 3lbs to 9lbs, 3 Bream.
Tactics and bait: Boilies for 8 of the carp on a hair rig and sweetcorn on a float for the others.2.Dale Heyman – 12th August 2007
Weather varied throughout the day starting with overcast and rain leading to a very warm sunny afternoon. 7 common carp weights from 8lb – 18lb, 6 mirror carp 8lb – 12lb, various other small fry.

Tactics and bait: Bird seed boilie on hair rig for carp and sweet corn on float for the rest.

3. Andy Plowman – 11th August 2007
“”I arrived at the lake Friday evening, and after baiting an area up it wasn’t long before I started getting some action. Surprisingly Friday night turned out to be pretty quiet with about four fish caught up till daylight. Saturday morning turned out to be a bit hectic with a few trips out in the canoe (which my mates found hilarious) to retrieve my rigs from snags (there’s only about three snags in the whole lake and I managed to find two of them, typical).

“”Once everything had settled down the action really hotted up and by about 1am Sunday morning and with some heavy rain coming down I decided to pull the rods in and get some kip. Rods went back out Sunday at 7am until I pulled off the lake at 4pm. In all I caught 21 fish up to 12.75Ib, with most of the fish being mirrors. I probably lost over 10 fish due to hook pulls and yes finding the third snag in the lake. On a couple of occasions I had two rods go off at the same time which was a bit tricky, but with the help of some lads in the next swim the fish were landed. Celtic resort is a cracking venue with a top bloke (John) running the complex.

“”This is my second visit to the venue and won’t be the last.””

21 fish up to 12.75Ib

Tactics and bait: Boilies were used on two rods, one to the baited area and the other was frequently cast around the island. My third rod was baited with two 22mm halibut pellets aimed for the cats but resulting in some greedy carp.
