Cheshire ponds stocked with crucian carp

Over 5000 rare Crucian Carp are now making Cheshire ponds in Warrington,Winsford and Northwich their home after being stocked by the EnvironmentAgency.


Stephen Cartledge, Environment Agency Fisheries Officer, said:”Crucian Carp are becoming an endangered fish across the country.In order to give these fish the best chance of survival we chose pondsthat would allow them to flourish around Cheshire.”

The chosen ponds are, Norcott Pool near Warrington, Sandiway SmallLake, Winsford, Woods Meadow, and Whatcroft Pool, Northwich.


Stephen continued: “This restocking project is a great example of howthe Environment Agency invests the money generated from rod licencesales back into improving angling and protecting and boosting rarespecies.”
