Danebridge Fisheries- beautiful scenery
I’ve always enjoyed a spot of flyfishing but it’s been a long time since I took a great deal of interest in it. But now I intend to put that right, having treated myself to some new gear and a few up-to-date flies.

It’ll do for starters at 3lb 3oz
Which is daft in one way for the flies that trout take won’t have changed one little bit, only the way they’re tied will have changed a little, which is what I mean.

Dave I went to Danebridge fisheries in Wincle, where the upper reaches of the river Dane run by. An excellent fishery, really natural and a beautiful place. It was well worth the £ 10.00 fee for five hours and two fish (£ 7.00/no fish) just to enjoy the scenery.

I was soon back into the swing of things and caught two trout to 3lb 3oz and dropped a couple off. The successful method was a number 7 weight forward floating line, 10ft, 6lb leader, and a black and green, gold-head Fritz retrieved intermittently slow and jerky at about half depth.

Wow, I’m beginning to sound like an expert already – I wish!
