The Caer Beris Manor Hotel is proud to announce it will be running a grayling fishing weekend from Friday 27th February through to Sunday 1st March. If you fancy tackling the ‘lady of the stream’ on an exclusive upper Wye beat while staying in a fabulous hotel then don’t miss out on this tremendous opportunity.

Spaces will be limited to half a dozen anglers although non-fishing guests will be made more than welcome.

The Caer Beris Manor was formerly the home of Lord Swansea and is set in 27 acres of grounds within a loop of the River Irfon and it is perfectly possible to fish for salmon, trout, grayling, chub and dace within a short cast of the hotel foyer.

The itinery for the weekend will be as follows:

  • Guests will meet up in the bar on Friday evening before retiring to an exclusive oak panelled dining room to enjoy a private dinner
  • On Saturday morning, after a hearty ‘Full Welsh’ breakfast, we head off to the river
  • A packed lunch is provided.
  • Saturday evening features another private dinner
  • On Sunday morning you can enjoy another ‘Full Welsh’ before heading off to the river once more
  • And yes, there will be a packed lunch again in the unlikely event you are feeling peckish!
  • Anglers can fish through until dusk if they wish before heading for home
  • Those who prefer to avoid driving after a hard days fishing can stay a third night at the hotel for a reasonable extra cost and maybe even snatch a few hours fishing in the hotel grounds the next morning

Peter Smith, who owns the hotel, will be helping out on and off the bank. He’s a vastly experienced angler having been a founder member of the Carp Catchers Club and one of the first anglers ever to catch a hundred double figure barbel from the Wye. He also runs mahseer trips to India’s Cauvery River each year.

Joining Peter for the weekend will be all-round angler Bob Roberts and (semi-retired) FishingMagic editor Graham Marsden. The trio will be in attendance at both evening meals and will be more than happy to offer help and guidance on the riverbank.

It goes without saying that many fishing tales will be told in the relaxing surroundings.
