Temple produces its first thirty of the year to regular Richard Dalmas. The fish was a very pretty, almost leather looking mirror weighing 30lb 2oz.

30lb 2oz carp to Richard

Following two recent blank sessions, Richard decided on a complete re-think of his rigs, baits and tactics culminating in making the bold decision to move away from the deep water to the shallow end of the lake.

Baiting his size 8 Nash wide gap hooks with single 18mm Maple 8 boilies attached to 2oz running leads and 15lb Stealth hook links with a leadcore leader and 17lb Xline, Richard chose to fish peg 14 on the old lake bank positioning his baits tight to the island in the deep water channel.

Fishing Saturday night, Richard’s first fish was a very pretty 24lb Mirror which was caught around midnight, this fish has tag number 142897 and was stocked from the Barn pond on the 8/11/2003 weighing 23lb 8oz.

Richard’s second fish of the session was caught during the early hours of Sunday morning, weighing 30lb 2oz, this pretty, almost leather looking mirror has tag number 183888 and was stocked on the 7/8/2004 from the King George weighing 30lb 8oz.

Richard’s first fish at 24lb

A lean strong fish, this is the first time this fish has been caught and was in perfect condition despite having lost a few ounces since being stocked!

To show that Richard’s fish were no fluke, Richard went on to lose one more fish mid morning Sunday.
