Report for week ending 20th May
Fishery manager Colin Lawrenson informs me that the ‘much missed’East Bank is now open for fishing after the Foot & Mouthrestrictions. This is great news for all and it is almost like a’Second Opening Day’ as this water has not been fished since the endof last season. Colin recommends trying proven marks such as HeronPoint, The Cascade and the Gorse Bushes for great sport.

Foremark Reservoir in Derbyshire

During the early part of last week the foul weather kept mostanglers away from the water. However the hardy souls who did ventureout found that the fish were still well up for it with rod averagesup around the 3 fish per rod mark.

Old favorites such as Damselfly nymphs, Goldhead GRHE and BlackBuzzers having been the patterns producing consistently.

Best areas have been the Dam Wall (close to the Lodge), VerdunsPoint, Flamingo Bay, Hut Point and Bramble Bay. Top Rod – Mr R Wattsfrom Derby can certainly vouch for Bramble Bay as this was where hetook the weeks biggest rainbow of 9lbs. Well done to Mr Watts.

It was also good to see the first of the Hawthorn Flies appearingand Colin predicts that a good Hawthorn imitation will account forplenty of fish this coming week.

This weeks return figures – 476 fish caught, 228 returnsgiving a rod average of 2.1 and the average weight was 2lbs 2oz.

Seasons totals – 5398 fish caught, 1646 returns giving arod average of 3.3 and top rainbow (so far) is 9lbs 2oz.
