There’s a lot of interest from anglers of all disciplines in lure fishing for perch at the moment, and it’s the perfect way to get amongst a few good fish on short winter sessions.

Perch are great fish to catch, they look amazing and can always be relied on to put up a spirited fight especially on the light lure fishing gear on offer from Savage Gear. This is the perfect way of introducing children to fishing too – everything is light and easy to use and in a very short time kids will be having fun casting and fishing.

To make your introduction to lure fishing that much more exciting Sportfish have Pro Lure angler and Savage Gear Consultant Danny Parkins at their Reading store on 15 November – he will take two groups down to the Kennet & Avon Canal (a short walk from the store) and teach you how to master the fun techniques he’s developed.

The canal has a good population of decent-sized perch, in fact they actually top the magical 4lb mark! If you would like to bring your own gear that’s fine – if you would like to have a go with Danny’s demo gear that’s cool too. Danny will give a demo then spend time with you individually.

This event is completely FREE – thanks to the generosity of Reading & District Angling Association – all you need to do if you are interested in attending is register for either the morning or afternoon session by calling Sportfish Reading on 0118 930 3860. Places are limited to 12 on each session.

Please park at the shop to collect your ticket and walk down to the canal – children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The morning session will commence at 10.00am and the afternoon session at 1.30pm. There will special offers on Savage Gear lure fishing gear on the day and please note that anybody fishing will need to be in possession of an EA coarse rod fishing licence.
