Thanks to the verifiable Internet voting booth provided by Anglers Say we can, at last, have some confidence that the positive vote for the funding of the governing bodies of our sport, by the anglers on the bank is not unrealistic.

Much has been said on this topic in the past, not only in the corridors of the powerful within angling but, also in the equally important views generated by the massive Internet forum on FISHINGmagic.com

Commenting on our current poll, Rodney Coldron the most visible representative of the National Federation of Anglers said “it’s a great idea and I’m happy to support it but we are involved in the sport of angling and most anglers don’t want to pay for anything”.

However, with the current count in excess of 2800 votes, those in favour of anglers paying for professional governance are, by a margin of almost 2 to 1 leading the way it may be that Rodney’s view is unrepresentative.

The numerous comments posted on the new ‘have your say’ initiative recently launched on Anglers Say indicate that a professional management team could generate enough confidence within the angling community to provide direct funding.

Anglers Say regular Rod Bracey posted ‘Whilst many anglers associate the NFA solely with match fishing the nitty gritty of ensuring coarse angling in all it forms remains available falls to the NFA. It is time every one who goes fishing contributed to make sure it remains so’.

With the poll remaining open for the next few days it is now time to ‘stand up and be counted’ on Anglers Say.
