Barbicle is a new, dedicated barbel particle mix from Haiths of Cleethorpes, which has been developed by leading northern multi species supremo Graham Marsden.

Barbicle before preparation
The seeds that make up the mix are all proven barbel attractors in their own right and, very importantly, are all of a size that will flow from a standard block-end feeder.Although all the seeds are attractive to barbel, there is no overriding smell to the mix, which allows you to add your own label if required.

The most difficult to prepare single seed in the mix is hemp, so if you can prepare hemp then this stuff should be a breeze.

The mix is generally clean so doesn’t really need a wash off.

Put the quantity you require into a pot or bucket and cover with a generous amount of cold water, then allow the bait to soak for 24 hours.

Prepared Barbicle with added
micro trout pellets and caster
During the soaking stage, flavours may be added, my personal choice is for John Baker Barbel Search 4, of which I add a generous gloop.

After the soaking, I boil the mix for about 20 minutes and then allow it to cool.

When I arrive at the river I add a good quantity of micro trout pellets and casters, and to my mind this is possibly the ultimate particle carpet that you can lay down for barbel.
