Harrisons Say

H-Design rods represent a new range. The design and prototyping done in our Liverpool factory, but some of the production may not be UK in origin. We are using a new facility outside the UK for this new range. We are doing this for two reasons. First, we cannot produce enough rods to meet demand in the UK. Second, there are some types of rods which are very labour intensive which it is difficult to produce competitively in the UK. One example of this type of rod is quiver feeder rods with interchangeable tips.

Over the last year we have developed a tight range of the highest quality specialist rods under the H-Design label. The blanks are all premium quality low resin content carbon with ninety degree carbon scrim. The cork handles are triple ‘A’ grade. Rings are gunsmoke frames and zirconium lined. Finished in smoke black with black epoxied tyings. Actions and balance feel crisp and light but the power and strength is there for double figure barbel. These rods are world class, state of the art rod design.

No one knows more about specialist rod design than we do here at Harrisons, and we believe our production partners are the best available. H-Design offers much more than most rods out there.

  • The design is 100% UK by the most experienced team
  • Carbon lay up is state of the art
  • Harrisons can offer in-house UK service repair and warranty back up with the ability to make spares in the future years at their Liverpool factory

Steve Harrison said, “The facility we are using is known for producing some of the most exclusive blanks in the world. I have worked closely with their designers to specify the blank exactly.”

The H-Design Range Includes:

1. Sulis Four Piece 11′ 1 1/2lb RRP £ 130
Comes in a carrying case with shoulder strap.

Faster than an Avon, beautiful balance and lots of feel.

2. Sulis 11′ Avon Quiver RRP £ 135
A modern interpretation of the Avon theme with one hollow tip and a second spliced carbon 3 ounce tip. Beautifully slim with a weave finish.

3. Sulis 12′ 1 1/2lb Specialist Quiver RRP £ 170
A twin tip rod for the bigger rivers. One hollow tip and one tip with three interchangeable quivers. An ideal summer barbel rod.

4. Sulis 12′ 1 3/4lb Specialist Quiver RRP £ 175
A stepped up version of the 1 1/2lb. Again with straight through hollow top and a second tip with interchangeable quivers. This will stop the biggest barbel with reserves of power.

FISHINGmagic Says
The rod I’m currently using, the Sulis 11′ Avon Quiver, has the same smart appearance as the Chimera and feels very much like a lighter version of that rod. I will be offering a full review of this rod next week, and will over the next few months be reviewing all the new rods in the H-Design range.

When I first heard that Harrisons were not building these rods in their own Liverpool facility I feared that this would mean a reduction in the usual high quality we’ve come to expect of them. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, however, that my fears were groundless. More soon.
