PUBLISHER’S REMARKS
LEARN THE UNDERWATER SECRETS OF FISH BEHAVIOUR AND HABITATS
One of three books in an innovative series on improving fishing techniques, Improve Your Fly Fishing ventures into the underwater world of lakes and rivers to provide an alternative view on how to fly fish. Groundbreaking photography demonstrates how the fish view casting techniques and choice of fly, while also illustrating fish behaviour to enable the angler to gain inside information on their sport.

Internationally renenowned author, photographer and angler John Bailey explains in detail the relationship between fly fishers and their catch. In offering useful tips on improving techniques, anglers will be able to turn more and more potential bites into actual catches.

Illustrated with full-colour photographs and detailed line drawings, Improve Your Fly Fishing provides a new perspective on the sport of fly fishing, ensuring that anglers will get the most out of each and every fishing expedition.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT

The usual quality writing of John Bailey, who has that rare angling writer ability to set you down at the waterside and make you feel like you’re actually there.

The photography is excellent and many of the underwater shots will give you a new insight into that underwater world that we are rarely privileged to see.

If I have to have one niggle it would be that John makes lots of statements about fish behaviour that are not necessarily actual fact. Fish are said to be sulking or resting, for instance, which is something that only the fish are likely to know considering they can’t close their eyes and few of them can change their expression.

To be fair though, all anglers, and especially angling writers, make similar assumptions all the time about fish behaviour.

An excellent book, great pictures, and well worth the asking price.
