In the past the focus has primarily been game angling however, as with every year, the National Country Fair broadens its scope and this year is no exception.

The angling demonstration team includes for the first time internationally acclaimed coarse and fly fishing experts side by side.

Shimano’s senior consultant Jan Porter will make his debut this year on the angling demonstration platform. Jan has a rich and varied angling biography, and hails from an illustrious career as a match angler. He has represented Norway in eight World Championships. He has won over 100 open matches, and held two river match records, among many others.

His easy-going, down to earth nature, together with his deep love of his subject and inexhaustible patience, have earned him many fans.

He runs courses in casting on the rivers Tweed , Tay and Spey as well as conducting casting clinics and demonstrations all over the world. He has fished for salmon in parts of the world as diverse as Russia , Norway , Canada , America , Europe and Japan using a variety of casting methods.

He has appeared many times on BBC, European, American and Canadian television and made a documentary for Japanese television called ‘The Santori World of Fly Fishing’.
