King of Clubs
11-15 September 2006

Ireland’s premier angling festival – The King of Clubs – has been ‘tweaked’ for 2006 with a proposed return to tried and tested waters.

Sponsored by Tourism Ireland and Irish Ferries, there is a massive £ 3,000 for the overall winner, £ 500 for the heaviest catch each day and lots more prizes amounting to £ 17,000*

There is something for every matchman in the choice of venues. The prolific Church Lake section on Lough Gowna is brought into play, alongside Eonish Lake and Rosduff Shore. Glasshouse and Dernaferst are retained because of their consistency and great stocks of roach, bream and hybrids.

Everything else remains the same with five days (Monday to Friday) and six hours fishing – and all results based on total weight.

“We are determined to provide the very best fishing for our anglers”, said Ann Pye of Irish Ferries.

“The King of Clubs is Ireland’s top angling festival and we aim to keep it that way by improving the venues and at the same time, reducing travelling time.

“There is a lot more information in our special leaflet, which includes travel dates and ferry sailing times from Holyhead and Pembroke”.

*Tourism Ireland and Irish Ferries have decided upon a prize fund of £ 2,000 guaranteed plus the return of all the £ 100 entry fees. PLUS optional pools.
