Trying to predict a fisheries form for Lymm Angling Club members is almost impossible at the moment, especially as the rivers have been affected by high levels of rainfall, with many flooding over the banks. Form is currently changing day by day, with waters fishing well one day, and not the next.

Best reported performer over the last week has been Grimsditch Mill Pool, where waggler tactics are winning hands down at the moment. Official, Jeff Spencer, attributes this to the fish being wary of pole movements over their heads, a situation of course not applicable when using a waggler. The pole wary theory could well apply to other waters, therefore if action is slow on the pole a switch to waggler or tip tactics may bring a change of fortune.

Lymmvale specialists are continuing to catch good sized chub, on their tried and tested long range waggler method. The method remains to fish high up in the water, with little or no dropper weights on the tail. Rigs have to be very fine, and bait in very small amounts must be continually sprayed over the float. Obviously this method of fishing can be very difficult in windy conditions.

Despite the current difficult conditions, fish can be caught on all the popular waters, and remember always make use of any features. Its pointless to cast out into a water, when all the fish are tight up to a bankside feature which may well be at the tip of your rod.

Last weeks work parties directed much of their effort onto Village and Founders Pools, with work on Whitley and Woodside Pools due to commence next Saturday. Members wishing to attend the work parties can do so simply by just turning up at Whitley Pool car park at 9.00 am.

Nearly all the subs reminders have been sent out, but not quite all. If you have not received your subs reminder by the middle of this month, please let me know.
