And I can’t really argue with that, except to say that I would choose a stronger hook for big bream, and by big I mean 8lb plus. But for a match hook and the size of bream you expect to catch in a match they’re about right – not too fine, but fine enough not to destroy a maggot or caster, and light enough to be taken by finicky skimmers.
I most recently used them to catch bream to over 6lb from Boundary Water Park for the Coarse Fisherman Dexter’s Day piece, and they performed very well.
Made from high carbon steel and chemically sharpened these black nickel hooks are available in packs of 10 in sizes 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 22 at 99p a pack.
