Indications are that it is set to be yet another fabulous promotion and with more than 250 events nationwide listed online HERE on the NFM website there’s plenty of opportunity for people to have a go at fishing a venue close to them.

Everyone who participates receives a NFM goody bag containing a ‘Get into Fishing’ booklet full of information on how to get started and advice on different types of fishing, stickers and a money off voucher for the new ‘Go Catch’ board game. They also receive a certificate of participation as a memento of their day’s fishing.

NFM headline sponsor, Go Outdoors, has organised a series of in-store events around the country which include teaching sessions and hints and tips on carp, coarse, game and sea fishing and the NFM website shows details of how to find a Go Outdoors store.

Naidre Werner, Chairman of the Angling Trades Association, said:

“July and August really will be focused on angling. There are hundreds of events going on across the country, beginning with a launch event opened by Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon at the CLA Game Fair at Belvoir Castle, Nottinghamshire (20th, 21st and 22nd July).  National Fishing Month will have its own teaching area at the Game Fair, where qualified coaches will be supported by the Angling Trust (AT), the Professional Anglers Association (PAA) and Community Angling Regeneration Project (CARP).”

Across the country, manufacturers such as Daiwa, Dinsmores, Hardy/Greys, Hopkins and Holloway, Lureflash, Maver, Leeda, Pure Fishing, Shimano and Tricast, have all donated tackle and product to National Fishing Month organisers to be used on the bank for coaching and as prizes at their events.

National Fishing Month and the participating events will also be promoted on the BBC’s ‘Things to Do’ website. The BBC is actively promoting outdoor sports and pastimes this summer and its ‘Things to Do’ website aims to bring these activities together on one site to inspire audiences to get involved in hands on activities – including National Fishing Month – across a range of genres.

There is still time to register to take part and have a go at fishing. Details of events that are scheduled already are listed on the NFM website and can be accessed by postcode.
