A barbel just short of 10lb has been taken from the Fishers Green stretch of the Old River Lee by Dr Matt Naylor.

Venue regular Matt took the fish in broad daylight with spiced meat from a river running low and clear.

Recent captures, due to the clear water, have fallen to anglers fishing maggot or caster with hemp on lighter tackle between dawn and dusk.

Junior Teach-in
RMC Angling will be holding another of their junior teach-ins on the Fishers Green stretch on the 23rd and 24th of September.

With the likes of Ray Walton and Fred Crouch on hand RMC hope to be able to demonstrate the finer points of barbel angling to the next generation of river anglers.

They will also be trying to catch the lads a carp or two overnight on the Relief Channel.

Watch out for a full report of the event.
