There was a lot to see at the Fox show for the trade and press. New rods for all persuasions including match, carp, barbel, general coarse and …………… rods especially designed for pike flyfishing, the subject of a great deal of discussion on the forum just recently.

Ken Townley and Coarse Fisherman editor Stu Dexter

Fox directors Cliff Fox and Max Cottis took great delight in holding the tips of some of the rods while I went through the motions of bending into imaginary fish. “Go on, go on!” They pleaded with me. “Give them some stick.” And with that I put some frightening bends into them and prayed that they wouldn’t break. They didn’t of course, but I don’t know who would have been the most embarrassed if one of them had!

There were some great looking rods, including a couple of beautiful four and five piece carp rods for the traveling angler that defied you to tell that they weren’t the usual two piece rods we’re so used to.

Stu Dexter gets a spanking off Mick Brown
Mick Brown was suitably proud of the pike rods and tackle he had a hand in designing, as was Ken Townley and Andy Little when it came to the carp rods and tackle.

It was a good show that was made all the more interesting by the chat that lasted well into the evening with myself, Matt, Ken Townley, Andy Little, Stu Dexter, Mick Brown and Paul Reaves.

The best bit was when Stu Dexter got a spanking off Mick brown with a jig rod for saying something naughty.
