GROVE PARK
Peter Grocott was off to a flier in the Grove Park Angling Club match at Bradshaw Fishery.

On his very first cast a 5lb 14oz common carp took his pole fished pinkies and there was a right old tussle to get the fish into the net….but that was his only bite on a frosty morning and enough to win the match.

Second place in the Liverpool-based club’s sweepstake was Eddie Judge with 2lb 12oz followed by Neil Lloyd who had 2lb 4oz.

Carp have been much more active at Burton mere, near Ellesmere Port, where pleasure angler Bill Ormsby had a terrific session catching about 50 carp – the biggest 4lb – for an estimated 80lb.

There are four lakes at the fishery and Bill chose to try his luck on Willow Pool and floatfished with a loaded waggler and double red maggot in about 10 feet of water.

And on the same day, but fishing Burton mere itself, 16 year old Adam Flynn from Maghull caught two mirror carp weighing 19lb 2oz and 18lb 6oz on legered sweetcorn.
