The PAC say this year’s Convention, at the Pavilions of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, is probably as far north as they have ventured to hopefully give many of the folks at the northern end of the country the chance to attend.

The event has four top quality Pike Anglers who have caught between them, wait for it… one thousand two hundred and seventy-four twenty pounders, forty-three thirty pounders and two forty pounders, every one of them giving their time for all pike anglers to see and hear them. The PAC Convention is the only place where you will have a chance to see anything quite like it.

First up is Goucestershire pike ace and editor of online magazine ‘Esox World’, and no stranger to the big fish world, Steve Rowley.

Steve’s talk is ‘My Esox World’ not a plug for his online magazine but a mixture of topics; he describes how his own personal way of fishing has developed over the years and, on topics close to his heart, Steve tells how he feels modern technology is having an impact on today’s sport. He is concerned too about the youngsters of today and about how we can try to draw them into our sport. This is a talk that will be truly interesting, so don’t be late or you could miss out.

The second talk of the day is entitled ‘Pike Fishing Here and There’ by the former PAC President and long time member, Phil Wakeford.

Phil will talk through his many trips to the Irish Loughs in pursuit of big pike, plus trips to such diverse places as the Baltic Sea, as well as catching that personal best forty pound fish from Chew Valley Lake. Phil will also be launching his new book with the same title as his talk; the book will be on sale on the day, and during his talk he will be mentioning excerpts from the book.

This year the PAC will not be having Neville Fickling’s panel for the simple reason that Neville himself will be giving a unique talk entitled ‘Fifty Years of Pike Fishing’

In this talk Nev will be looking back over those many decades of experience. Over the years he has worked tirelessly for pike fishing and the PAC, served as General Secretary for the PAC from 1988 to 1991, has been editor and columnist for top predator magazines, and is also the author of many top selling predator books; in fact Neville is possibly one of the best known predator anglers of today.

To complete the brilliant array of speakers is the well known top Irish pike angler Alistair Rawlings, with a talk entitled ‘Eire in Some Highlights’.

Alistair will be touching on his successful methods on those big Irish waters, plus those special red letter days. This could be your one and only chance to hear and chat to Alistair.
