Ultima Say Two years ago ULTIMA began a project that aimed to combine everything that has been achieved in monofilament development in the last 10 years and add the very latest developments in polymer technology to at last create a high tech line that satisfied everybody’s needs. Until now this has not been possible but with the latest developments in line technology we were confident that the high tech line had now come to a stage where only advantages were to be had with none of the drawbacks of earlier products.
Great colour, smooth and tough
The process has not only involved the technicians and lab team but particular emphasis has been put on involving the field testing team from the outset and it was they that we listened to first. What were the drawbacks with existing products and what were their ideal performance requirements? Two years of trials and retrials with subtle adjustments along the way we have satisfied the most demanding elements of our field testing requirements as well as the lab technicians exacting requirements, to achieve the perfect balance of strength, suppleness, abrasion resistance, knot strength and particularly reliability and ease of use.
Power Plus incorporates several new materials that were not available two or three years ago and we have been able to produce higher breaking strains and higher levels of abrasion resistance that only until recently would have been thought impossible.
Possibly most significantly, we have been able to increase the knot strength very significantly in line with the remarkable linear strength performance.
Power Plus is over 70% stronger than lines that were around 20 years ago.

FISHINGmagic VERDICT
I’ve used this line to fish for carp and barbel and I have to say that I’m very pleased with its performance. I’ve pulled carp to over 20lb from lilies using the 12lb bs and found no sign of damage to the surface of the line.

I like the colour, which very closely resembles the colour of silkweed when in the water (and we’ve had plenty of that this year during the recent heatwave).
The strength to diameter ratio is excellent and most pleasing is that it sinks fast and so far shows no signs of coiling and kinking.
Ultima Power Plus is a line I’m going to be using for a lot of my fishing and although I give it 9 stars this could be changed to 10 when I’ve used it over a longer period and can better judge its reliability.
