There are two schools of thought about bait flavours. One says it is better to keep the flavour levels low, being as fish have a much more sensitive sense of smell and taste than humans and over-flavouring can be more of a deterrent than an attraction.

The other school says that highly flavoured baits make your offering stand out from the crowd, in that your hookbait should be carrying more flavour, or the flavour should be stronger, than the free offerings that surround it.

If you belong to the latter school you will be well into ‘glugging’, the term used to describe dipping baits, or even soaking baits, in highly concentrated flavours.

These Impact Boilie Dips from Richworth could, then, be just what you’re looking for. They combine fish-attracting oils with a range of flavours without overdoing it so that they become a deterrent. These oily dips certainly cling to the bait for long periods and when used on boilies of a different flavour than the dip, the dip flavour, even after being in the water for an hour or more, has been the dominant one.

I’ve used them to good effect for bream, tench and barbel and have caught fish at times when anglers using the same bait nearby without boilie dips have blanked.

They come in a range of 15 flavours in 125ml bottles.
