Angling Times Columnist Des Taylor is planning to exploit a loophole in the closed season regulations to hold a match on the river Severn this closed season.

Des and a bunch of FISHINGmagic lads on the Severn at Larford. Not in the closed season I might add……..
The Environment Agency regulations for the Midlands region state that legering a worm on a hook with a certain gape is legal in the closed season for coarse fish. So, on the basis that “you can’t legislate for what’s going to grab your bait next,” Des is planning to gather together some of the big names in angling and run a match.

In his usual provocative manner Des says the top prize is a life ban from the Barbel Society. The second prize is a week’s fishing in Denmark after spawning bream and pike, and the third prize is a right rollicking on the website chat rooms.

Well lads, let’s not disappoint the man.

After all, his job could be at stake if we don’t at least act like we’re wound up…………
